Admission requirements by level of study

Primary level

  1. 1The pupil must be at least 6 years old, or 5 years and nine months at the start of the school year.
  2. 2Pass the placement test in basic skills: reading, writing and the principles of arithmetic.
  3. 3The pupil and their guardian must attend an interview to assess social skills and correct pronunciation, and the guardian must sign an undertaking to respect the institute's rules and official timetable.

Intermediate (middle school) level

  1. 1The pupil should preferably be between 12 and 16 years old.
  2. 2Hold the primary school leaving certificate with an average of at least 50%.
  3. 3Pass the tests in the core subjects: Arabic, creed and mathematics.
  4. 4Provide an accredited certificate from the previous school attesting to the pupil's good conduct.
  5. 5The pupil and their guardian must attend, and sign an undertaking to respect the institute's rules and official timetable.

Secondary level

  1. 1Hold the intermediate level certificate with a grade of at least «Good».
  2. 2Pass a test in the core subjects: Arabic, creed, jurisprudence and hadith, Qur'an.
  3. 3Attend an interview with the committee or the administration to assess the pupil's maturity and ability to cope with the demands of study, or to direct them towards another track in another school.
  4. 4The pupil and their guardian must attend, and sign an undertaking to respect the institute's rules and official timetable.
  5. 5No serious or repeated misconduct on the pupil's part during previous levels or at other institutes.

Documents required for all levels

  • A certified copy of the birth certificate and identity card.
  • Recent passport photographs (4 or 6).
  • A copy of the guardian's identity card.
  • A pass certificate for the last school year, if any (stamped).
  • The transfer file from the previous school or institute, in the event of a transfer.
Online university programme

The Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jamâ'ah Centre for Preaching and Guidance in Mauritania announces that registration is open for its online university programme, to make the pursuit of Islamic knowledge easier and to allow students to continue their studies from anywhere in the world.

The programme is intended for those unable to travel or to attend in-person classes regularly because of work or other commitments, while offering structured Islamic teaching that combines academic grounding with pedagogical follow-up.

Admission requirements

  • Hold the secondary school diploma (baccalaureate) or its equivalent, together with two recommendations from teachers or scholars (shuyukh).
  • Pass the interview or the specific test.
  • Undertake to respect the Centre's regulations and its educational ethics.
  • Submit all the required documents.

Required documents

  1. 1A recent passport photograph.
  2. 2A copy of the national identity card or passport.
  3. 3A copy of the secondary school diploma (baccalaureate) or its equivalent.
  4. 4The transcript of grades or academic record.
  5. 5A certificate of good conduct.
  6. 6Two academic recommendations — or at least one if possible.

Important notes

  1. 1Files must be uploaded in PDF format, or in a clear and approved format.
  2. 2The certificate will only be issued once all academic and administrative requirements have been met.
  3. 3Seriousness, diligence and regular attendance at classes and examinations are strongly advised.
  4. 4The same conditions apply to those enrolled in the Madinah Programme and the Riyadh Programme.

Diplomas Awarded

The center's diplomas are official and accredited. They are only awarded after validating the entire program and passing all exams, organized under supervision (on-site or online).

Housing & Student Residence

The center has dormitories (limited places) and supports international students in obtaining student residency in accordance with Mauritanian regulations. Young students (6-17) can be accommodated as boarders.
